New kindergarten students show their excitement.

Stonewall Gets Back at It

The colorful halls of Stonewall Jackson Elementary School were full of excited first-time and returning students Aug. 24 as parents brought their children in for the first day of school.

After drop-off, new parents were invited to the cafeteria for “New Parents’ Coffee,” where the PTA President Kelly Newman welcomed everyone and introduced the school and all the extracurricular offerings at Stonewall.

PTA Board, Dad’s Club, After School, and the Stonewall Garden members were all present at the gathering, and parents could ask questions, sign up to volunteer for any of the upcoming events this school year, and also purchase Stonewall spirit shirts.

The Stonewall Jackson Principal Olivia Henderson — DISD Principal of the year 2005-06 — welcomed all her students, staff, and parents by visiting each classroom and letting everyone know what an exciting year we have ahead of us at Stonewall.
